The MTC is on fire
The MTC is literally on fire rn like with physical flames and everything but more on that later
Fast Sunday 6/2/19
Elder Gutke took 4 naps this day and he was still exhausted by the end of the day.
Wholesome Tuesday section:
The speaker on Tuesday was Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife. They are so fantastic and full of love. He left us with a promise that, "you can do this. One person, one smile, one day at a time."
So many people forget that that's all that is expected of us. We should stop comparing ourselves to our potential selves unless it's used as inspiration for us to act better. Wallowing in what we perceive that we can't do is especially detrimental to us and makes it harder to achieve anything or to feel the spirit.
My favorite quote from his wife was, "Oh no, you don't know HER." She was telling a story about how everyone in the office passed by this one grouchy-looking apple seller on the way to work each day. That is... except for one of them who decided to go out of her way to just stop by and give the woman a compliment, just chat for a moment, and once even bought her some flowers to brighten her day. After awhile of this, the coworker introduced sister Gong's wife to the grouchy apple seller. The "grouchy" apple seller immediately started beaming when she saw the two of them and referred to the woman as her best friend.
Everyone has value and is so important. Just give people the time of day.
Wednesday 6/5/19
- We checked the vents of the older district's old room to see if they had left anything. there was nothing ;(
- We got a new district in our zone! We are getting so lucky with amazing people Every single person in my zone is so cool and interesting. You just talk to them for -.01 seconds and you'll just know it. Promise
-
Thursday 6/6/19
- It randomly rained BUCKETS of water for a couple minutes and then stopped shortly thereafter
- I was taking a little bit longer than usual to write in my journal on Thursday, so I went out to the hallway so that I didn't keep the other elders in my room awake. While I was out there this one Elder checked over on our couches to make sure that none of his zone had stolen them to put in their room (there's no room for couches in the rooms btw but I mean it must have been some kind of testosterone thing). I told him the story about some elders that had taken apart the bunk beds and made a quad level one. Amazing
Friday 6/7/19
- I'm continually reminded that everyone is so important and valuable. Hidden talents abound in everyone
- 4 square is the most fun game in the world if no on takes it seriously. They made "the machine" by having one elder be the body and the other elder be the arms. Shortly thereafter it was a requirement for that game for every competitor to be 'a machine.' What a mess. Nice.
- I obtained my travel infos and apparently I'll be leaving the MTC 2 days before the rest of my district. HILARIOUS to me because I'm the only one who hasn't been constantly complaining about being here. (insert dance break)
Today is Preparation Day
- In the middle of doing laundry the fire alarm sounded and we had to leave everything or die by bleeding to death from our ears. The intercom said someone had reported a fire? Whatever that means. I was just afraid that my robe would be too crispy ;(
FAVORITE CONVERSATIONS
- In the shower: "YOU'RE calling ME condescending??? I bet you can't even SPELL condescending!"
- 2 missionaries throwing a wadded napkin on each others trays.
ME: come on, be adults *grabs it and puts it on my tray to throw away*
Elder Waite: And here we see the adult in it's natural habitat
Me: Be careful or I may spank you
- Elder Benevides telling a story about his dad's mission: And so his companion was so beautiful like really really pretty. And one day his companion just run in the apartment and up the stairs and they had to close the door and lock it because there were women that were chasing him.
ME: I am very glad that God blessed me with being ugly
Elder Gutke(emphatically): El don de feo
- Elder Benevides: I PROMISE I will not tell anyone... except maybe my parents... and my girlfriend and my family and my friends.
