He Found MAXIMUM JOY & YOU can too!
Spiritual Thought:
The words that have helped me out this week is something that one of the Spanish sisters said during our district and zone meetings: "God doesn't need us. He doesn't need us to accomplish his goals in missionary work, and he doesn't need us for him to be able to accomplish his goals in serving his children. However, he has joy as he does because of how he has been able to serve and love, and he wants us to be able to share in that."
I have certainly been able to feel a part of that joy as I have been serving, and I am so grateful for this small time I have.
I came across a special scripture that enhanced my understanding of this principle when I was reading over 3Nephi, Chapter 28: 2-10. Christ is giving gifts to his disciples. Three of the disciples decide that they love doing this work so much that they don't want to die. They want to give their whole life and MORE to serve and love others. I think Christ's reaction to this is stunning in verse 10:
- "For this cause ye shall have fulness of joy; and ye shall sit down in the kingdom of my Father; yea, your joy shall be full, even as the Father hath given me fulness of joy; and ye shall be even as I am, and I am even as the Father; and the Father and I are one."
Christ wants us to have joy even as he has, and the only way to do that, is for us to do as he would do - regardless of the time that is available.
This is not a mission for two years. We are to love and desire to serve everyone forever because anything less wouldn't be enough to unite us with Christ forever. We can have this joy now if we make this change.
Who is my companion?
- Elder Clay. We have very similar senses of humor, and teaching styles.
How is my area?
- We are white-washing, which means that both my trainer and I have never been here before. However, we are not opening a new area.
How am I?
- Very good! A surprise: I am cooking! Very wild. I stooped to a very low level and I took a picture of soup that I made. It looked so pretty, but not pretty enough to make me feel like I was sinning while I was doing it. People who take soup pictures are FOOLS.
How can you help me?
- Recipes that have chicken in them! I bought a lot of chicken, and idk what to do with it.
- Pray for: Peter, Jesus (Nacho is his nickname), the Monsanto family, Candy (name of a person in our area), the Hernandez family, and the Beach ward
Fun Stories
- We delivered sauce because a man without sauce is lost, though we became lost as we tried to deliver the sauce. (The bishop invited us to help to deliver barbecue sauce for Father's Day.)
- We found several people that want to be baptized! They all live out of country though....
- We went on a run 6 miles round trip to the beach and back. We died on way back.
