Set Apart--for a second time! Now to Anaheim, California

Setting Apart for Jonathan David Hale

Serving in the California, Anaheim Mission

Set apart and blessed by Stake President Steve Sargent of the Fruit Heights Stake.

Assisted by Jonathan’s father David N. Hale and grandfather David S. Hale.

These remarks were compiled afterward by family who were there listening. Although this is paraphrased, we’ve tried to be as accurate as our memories allow.

Jonathan David Hale, as Stake President in the Fruit Heights Stake and by the power of the Melchizedek priesthood I set you apart as a missionary in the California, Anaheim Mission. Jonathan, I bless you with patience during this time of transition, as you have come from a mission in Peru and will now be serving under different circumstances in a new area. You will quickly be recognized for your obedience, your testimony of the Savior, and for your hard work.

The language you have learned in Peru will help you as you interact with people from Mexico, from Central America, and maybe even some from South America.

Open your mouth and share your testimony of the Savior. As you do, your heart will be filled with pure love for the people you teach.

In time, your mission president will look to you because of your example, and will use you to help teach and lead other missionaries.

Be grateful for all your grandparents. They have embraced the gospel. Because of them, you have had wonderful opportunities to know the gospel and to learn it in depth, in your youth. Your love for them will grow, even as you spend these months away.

I bless you with these gifts in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

President Sargent also gave some counsel to you that you should study your Spanish daily, and expect to use it.
