Meekness. How can I have it?

  • Meekness is humility before God and his principles. We might find his principles in those around us, and we should be humble before that. 

  • Meekness is what will enable us to reach our best potential and it will give light to all around us. Love is the reason why we will follow through with being meek even when it's hard

  • "Being on the Lord's errand." Some of the Lord’s commandments or suggestions might seem rather strange. When we understand why, then it all comes together. As I said earlier, love is the reason why, though I feel the need to redefine it, because I’ve found that the worldly definitions of love to be quite lacking. The perfect example of someone misunderstanding what love is the song named, “What is love?” by Haddaway. When I hear the lyrics, “baby don’t hurt me,” followed by the lyrics and exclaimation, “what is love?!” I’m left feeling that the artist wanted to love someone, but felt that they could not love them because of something the other person was doing. This is not love. When we love someone, it should not be based at all on what the other person gives to us, but what we want for them. 

    • : Redefine what love is: 

      • Love is earnestly seeking another’s joy.

    • If you are doing this, it will be easy to know what to do and where to go because it will be second nature to you. And every other thing, the Lord will make known unto you. Every time you lack wisdom you can ask God to let you know how you can show his love to them

  • Jesus Christ was our best example of meekness that the Father has given unto us. 

    • Suffering in Gethsemane Matthew 26: 39 O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

    • It is not requisite that we must enjoy all that we must go through. However that does not matter. When you have a big enough reason why, the cost of anything will be worth it to you. It has been said that what Christ focused on in order to get through the atonement was each of your faces; he wanted you to have joy and that was enough.

    • Waiting to raise Lazarus John 11: 15, 32 - 36

      • 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

      • 32 Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

      • 33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

      • 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

      • 35 Jesus wept.

      • 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

  • How can we be meek if we are not selfless? Choosing to send angels to minister unto John the baptist instead of asking them to be sent unto Himself.

    • JST Matthew 4: 11 And Now Jesus knew that John was cast into prison, and he sent angels, and, behold, they came and ministered unto him (John). And Jesus departed into Galilee

Viernes Highlight: I expounded scripture in the night doing follow up to Dayana over the phone. It was amazing. We both felt a burning in our chests and we both knew that the Book of Mormon is true.  John 3: 34 "For whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him."  I read over this several times, but only after saying a prayer, I came to understand that God does not give a partial peace to those whom only keep some of his commandments or only wish to listen to some of the words of His disciples. Similarly, the Book of Mormon really is the word of God, and anyone that is denying it will be unable to have the spirit in any measure. (We both felt the spirit really strongly like a burning in our bosoms and she remarked about it.) I wish we got covid every day

Three highlights and a bonus highlight if you make it to the end We received a referral of a recent convert (David Danon) that moved in with his nonmember family due to covid. We had a zoom call tonight getting to know him and he is really cool. He's only 26, but he's been working as a 3d designer for jewelry and sculptures. He's loved meeting with the missionaries to talk about scripture and he has a bunch of amazing stories. Like one of his neighbors makes replicas of people and sells them for a lot of money. It's a weird way to get into the middle class, but it works. Also an amazing thing that happened this week is we got covid! Dr Davis told us to go to this urgent care to get tested and the line was so long and we had to wait two hours. While we were in the line, we talked with the person behind us for pretty much the whole time. She's Jewish and she was like ya'll are tooyoung to be Elders. Elder Massey was like ya he's actually 76 ahhaha. We shared a...

Miracle! We were contacting people on the way home yesterday, and we had a feeling that we should contact this one person that recently had been referred to us... but that we should wait ten minutes. Weird. Anyways, we decided to wait before going over even though we had nothing to do, and when we got there the lights were dark and on top of that there was a big fence and an aggressive dog in between us and the house. Right as we were going to leave & delete the referral record, someone pulled in that actually lived there and went in to get the person for us. Her mom and dad came out and they are excited to learn from us. The mom and dad especially want the family to come to church and the mom asked us for some stuff to read between now and the next time we pass by. Then an angel came down and - sike. Ok, but all but the part about the angel really happened. We're gonna have to pass them off to a family ward though because we're only in charge of teaching people in the ysa ...
