Rollie Chairs Find Friends
Met Jerry. He is a catholic volunteer. Met him as I was rolling Elder Dalton into the apartment complex on his new rollie chair and started up a conversation about that. He wants to know why bad things happen to good people & all throughout the conversation we felt really guided with what we said. He asked if we could come over sometime to just chat sometime, but we asked if we could come over to share the answers to all his questions using the scriptures. He accepted the invitation, and told us a couple week later that he had felt something inside him strongly urging him to accept the invitation. The most recent time that we came over, he shared with us that he feels like our few visits have changed his very nature in a very special and meaningful way. He explained in his own words that he feels real peace with what his past, and he has started liking to talk to other people because he sees people differently now. He is beginning to have sweetness enter into his soul. Wow. That is so beautiful. I'm going to read my own letter one more time just so I can remember one more time how awesome Jerry is.
I've lately been practicing Spanish by doing calls with the Latin people I've been meeting on Facebook. It's a great way to practice, but I feel like I want to do more! I decided that in order to motivate myself to keep up actual Spanish study (not just Spanish practice) I'm going to be giving myself a little bit for each lesson I do towards a new phone. Hahaha having something physical is so motivating. Setting goals and completing them gives me a level of control over my life that I would otherwise lack.
We met with brother Kelly' son, and he told us that he got out of jail recently and is on parole for the rest of his life, but because of good behavior he is likely going to be able to get off of parole and be eligible to be rebaptized soon. It was a tender moment and we cried together when the realization that he could have this thing that he had been waiting for. He thought that he was going to have to wait so long that he was going to literally (and I mean literally) wait until he died of old age and have his cousin do his temple work for him. This blessing of having a temple recommend is now available to him within the year. I am so overjoyed and happy for him.
Kathy 😎. That woman and my sister is so golden. She is just getting it and being so trusting of every principle that we teach her. Especially after praying about the Word of Wisdom and having a special personal experience with it, she is absolutely on a roll. Granted, the lessons we have with her are full of the spirit, but this is exactly the divinity that I have been searching for in a lesson. We've been steadily having her meet the whole ward by having a different person in each lesson and it's going so well!! Kathy said that she wants to be baptized still! And now I can tell she's even more certain about it. I am so excited. Wow. wow. wow. I can't believe we're doing this and I can't believe this is happening. During the lesson she got out an old lesson 1 restoration pamphlet that she had read through several times and put sticky notes on it with insights... What's funny is that she hadn't gotten this pamphlet from us, but got it from missionaries roughly a year or two ago and she held onto it! We shared with her about tithing this week, and she wants to pay it before she is baptized haha she is so awesome and truly faithful.
