Rebuked!!! in the best way
This week I shall give you a couple highlights from this week and and the week previous. I was moved over to a spanish young single adult ward last week, and my new companion is named Elder Paulino! He's being trained and his spanish is way better than mine.
Highlights:
Someone we met this week has some addictions in the past and feels bad because he has less time without the addictions than other people. I cut him off and told him that him counting the days was making him feel bad; he's already been forgiven each time he repents and there's no magical amount of days that will tell someone that they’ve been forgiven by God. we shared Mosiah 26: 30 and he was so deeply touched by it that even though he had never read the Book of Mormon before he asked to have Elder Paulino's copy and immediately started highlighting that verse. He looked so relieved and there was a great spirit of peace that rested over us. It felt so good to teach with power and authority in order to help someone who truly needed it. A spirit-inspired rebuke followed by an increase of love is how those you love will know that your faithfulness you have towards them is stronger than the chords of death (D&C 121:43 - 45)
As Elder Paulino and I were planning to teach a lesson to someone we met recently, we both got a feeling to share some scriptures about the ressurection. Honestly, it didn't make sense based off of what we knew at the time, but we went through with it anyways. After I was expounding upon a verse and without thinking about it, I was moved to say that when we are resurrected and will receive our perfect bodies, her depression will be gone away. It fit perfectly, and it was like a light lit on in her expression. Hopeful, and excited.
A friend I met online sent me a song that he wrote that was amazing. Had a really cool intro of a preacher doing a fiery sermon. I went ahead and called him right then and sand "Count your many blessings" with Elder Dalton & playing it on the Uke. It feels good to have found a kindred spirit. We read 3rd Nephi 11 together and we had so many spiritual epiphanies - we went down so many rabbit holes that we were barely able to get through 10 verses in an hour. Mid way through reading, he just stopped and said that he is loving this so much that he wants to read all of 3rd nephi and perhaps the whole Book of Mormon! We also both have scriptures that we memorized because they came to us in a dream. 2nd Timothy is where his is, and mine is in 1st nephi 21: 14 - 15
