I am safe
It seems as though the audience has become a little larger over the past couple of weeks (that was a fat joke and if you don't know whhhy, then eat at the MTC for 6 weeks). Lol but in all actuality I just typed in a TON of emails so plz lmk if I missed anyone.
SOMEONE forgot to bring their journal with them so that I could reference it while I wrote this, so the names and dates may be a lil hazy (That someone is me )
As per usual, at the end there will be favorite conversations section.
Sunday (Father's day)
- This was travel day. The MTC had decided that I had been TOO obedient and they wanted me to break at least one of the lord commandments of keeping the sabbath holy before I left.
- We met this super nice guy that guided us two fools through both the Salt Lake and Georgia airports and bought us food. He was basically our Dad for a day
- We arrived in the Lima airport just before 1, and got to the mission home shortly thereafter. However we got in only after 2 hrs cus the Elders in Lima are SO hardworking that they had put themselves into a deep slumber.
Monday
- We went through all the work of getting our identification cards
- Had dinner at a members house.
-we left to get on our flight to Trujillo a little before midnight.
Tuesday
- Met someone on the plane named Barbara and we talked the whole flight in Spanish. I am SO good at that espanoil stuff. Just kidding.
- We arrived and met the mission president his wife and their assistants. We visited the temple grounds on the way over to the office where we had lunch. Dinner was soo awesome. Peruvian food is so so good. Most of the people I've met here don't really care for spicy food though. Maybe that'll change.
- I met my companion, Elder Cresteche. He's super cool and hilarious. He's native Spanish, but he can speak English like a native too. P epic. I didn't even bother unpacking when we got back to the apartment cus we are busy bois and need to teach a bunch of people.
Friday
- I'm doing fairly well with my knowledge of the language (or rather, lack thereof), but most of the time it just doesn't measure up to what I need to converse with people as I would like to. It's frustrating, but it's so important to remember to take this one day at a time. Honestly I am so so grateful that I'm not immediately the perfect missionary in Spanish; the Lord has shown time and time again that prefers to use humble means in order to go about doing great things. Does anyone remember the story of Enoch in the book of Moses? You know, that when God called upon him to be his prophet he replied asking ‘ (Moses 6:31), ‘all the people hate me; for I am slow of speech; wherefore am I they servant?’ God replied saying, ‘Open your mouth, and it shall be filled… Choose you this day, to serve the Lord God who made you.’ God can do amazing things through us if we choose to let him and to be worthy of that guidance.
Saturday
- One of our investigators was baptized, so THAT'S pretty cool.
