Last mass e-mail from Provo
Wow I can't believe that I have found the L E G E N D A R Y Last Preparation Day in the Missionary Training Center at the MTC 😎
Hello everybody and welcome to my channel. Today I'm going to be going through some of the things that happened this past week. Also this looks like this will be the last mass-update I'll be sending while I'm in the missionary training center, so strap in. (I'll be emailing you all from Peru DON'T WORRY it's just click-bait)
As always, there'll be a Favorite Conversations section at the end
Saturday 6/8/19
- I wouldn't normally talk again about a previous preparation day, but this day was too good and I haven't told about it yet
- I had already ripped two pairs of pants so I had sent them to the tailor. Sat was pickup, and when I did so, they told me that it was for free cus I was so nice. Wasn't even trying to. Wholesome
- I was able to have the opportunity to do sealings in the temple for the first time using a family name that a friend had asked me to do (I did it on behalf of a son being sealed to his parents). The spirit in the room was so strong and I just felt such absolute peace and joy.
Sunday 6/9/19
- My bonus companion, Elder Hernandez performed a song during his departing devotional. He's super good and it always amazes me how great of a spirit it brings when the performer is putting so much soul and meaning behind their song.
6/11/19 Tuesday (I think?)
- Right before we got into our studies, our language tutor stopped us for a minute. She said that "When we are studying, we should be studying with the people that we will be teaching in mind. Focus on topics that you can use to help guide them to light (whatever that may be for them), and then we will be helped by God and be able to remember more of what we studied. When our purpose aligns with God's, we can do amazing things." (or something like that. This is what I got out of it). I can honestly say that I have seen this in my own life. As one personal example: I've learned more in Spanish over the past 4 weeks than I have in the 6-odd years of Spanish classes; I also find myself remembering random Spanish words I studied from middle school that I never was able to recall before - even in middle school. It's even more amazing to see the where the other people in my district started at (some only knew the word, "hola") and where they're at now. I'm reminded of 1st Nephi 3: 7
Tuesday Devotional Thoughts
- Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge came to talk to us. He started by relating a story of how he happened to sit next to the prophet at a lunch event of some kind and he spilled his plate as he sat down. He felt pretty inadequate. We all feel inadequate sometimes, and that's okay. We weren't made perfect, but if we humble ourselves by recognizing weaknesses and then we can become better. Read v. 27 Ether 12: 27
- Sidenote: While Brother Corbridge talked with the prophet, he asked if he had anything that he would have him say to us in his upcoming Tuesday devotional talk to the MTC. The Prophet said, "Ask them to thank their parents for raising them in such a way that would allow them to be where they're at today." Hi, MOM &DAD I love you and owe you everything. Btw, I would like to extend this same invitation to the rest of you!
6/14/19 Friday
- We had our last visit with our TRC's (people that have a part time job of being guinea pigs for missionaries in the mtc so we have opportunities to practice teaching) and Elder Benevidez and I were able to work fantastically together. We listened to them, addressing their needs with scripture and insights after listening. And we did so together, building on each others points helping explain each other when the other's language was lacking. I only wish we could've gotten to this point sooner.
- We took a final assessment just to see where we are at now in our Spanish. I had been ranked previously at 1.30 and now I'm at 4.20 (nice).
FAVORITE CONVERSATIONS
- (this is an ongoing joke that has many variations. Started by Elder Gerlach)
1: I can't wait until Preparation-day so I can finally shower
2: Wait what? You don't shower every day?
1: Of course not! It's called, "using the lord's time effectively."

Elder Doddridge, Elder Stoll & others looking at a rainbow hot air balloon for a solid minute
Elder Stoll: I think it's a pigeon

(this takes place about 75 times a day)
Elder Benevidez: Guess What
Me: What
